Congratulations on your degree. I know how hard it is to go back to school and have to work at the same time. It is a lot of work but well worth it. May you use your degree to further yourself for the better.

I wanted to earn my degree because:

I always felt that an education was an important achievement. I did not get to pursue an education earlier in life as most students traditionally do as I was put on a different path than most have to travel. For several years I knew that this was one of my goals and today I can take this off of one list but add it to another.

While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:

My family, my co-workers, and my boyfriend. Thank you all for the support you have given me. I am grateful for the understanding that you have given me when I have had to say No to events that I could not attend so that I could attend to my studies.

I’d like to give a shout out to:

Betty Williamson - for the great advice and help in Pre-Algebra and as an advisor. I am no Algebra wiz but know not to give up.
Jeffrey Nixon - Although I did not have you for a professor, it was always nice to see a friendly, familiar smile where we work for the same causes.

What I like best about my degree program and what it means to me is:

I like my degree program as it will allow me to help other individuals through Case Management. They are not kidding when they say that positive life changes can give you a new purpose and how rewarding that purpose can be. I can now use my life experience as a gift to be able to relate to others in the similar situations.

What I enjoyed most about my experience at Three Rivers Community College was:

Everyone was always so friendly! The students and faculty were great to work with. I never felt uncomfortable to be there even at my age!

Clubs, volunteer work, organizations that I participated in while at Three Rivers included:

I performed community service at the Thames Club in Groton. I attended meetings for NA to gain group work experience. I interned at Partners In Health Communities where I learned about Grass Roots.

I plan to use my degree to:

Advance in my employment. I know that I will probably end up furthering my education in the future as I enjoy the learning experience.

Now that I have completed college, I’m most looking forward to:

Having some time off! Working full time and going to school was a lot of work. The field that I am in requires that we take care of ourselves so I need some time for me!

What I’ll miss most about Three Rivers is:

Three Rivers was a place where I was finding myself while working on my degree. I will miss having a place that filled my time in a positive way.
