Year of Graduation:

2021

I am the first in my family to earn a college degree.

Yes

I wanted to earn my degree because:

I started working on my degree in 1998 and again in 2003. I could not complete it due to life circumstances (children and work) and decided to give it another try in 2017. After completing three semesters at Mitchell College, I transferred to TRCC and took advantage of the Assessment for Prior Learning Course. I promised myself I was not going to give up this time. In October of 2020, during the middle of the Fall semester and in the midst of COVID-19, I survived a Left Suborachnoid Hemmorage (brain aneurysm) and ended up in the hospital for three weeks. I was still determined to finish. With the support of my Professors, family, and close friends, I made it!

While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:

My Sister Tralona, my best friends Nina, and Crystal! My dear friend Rebecca.

I’d like to give a shout out to:

All adult students working full time, with children and pushing through life's challenges, are working hard to earn a degree!! My Mom because without her, I would not be here. My children Tramaine, Jahkwon, Terrance, and J'Nyiah, and my four grandchildren.

What I like best about my degree program and what it means to me is:

I like the Business Administration/ Management degree because the coursework exposes you to various career choices for your future.

What I enjoyed most about my experience at Three Rivers Community College was:

My Earth Science class with Professor Bill Dopriak.

I plan to use my degree to:

To explore opportunities in new areas of employment.

Now that I have completed college, I’m most looking forward to:

Begin working on my Undergrad Degree in Labor Relations/Human Resource Management.

What I’ll miss most about Three Rivers is:

The laughs I had in my Earth Science class with all of my classmates!!!
