Nursing, A.S.

Current Residence :

Waterford

Degree/Certificate:

Nursing, A.S.

Year of Graduation:

2020

I wanted to earn my degree because:

Nursing is my passion and what I was born to do.

While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:

My daughter, family, friends and classmates

I’d like to give a shout out to:

My daughter who was so understanding when the countless hours of studying came before our fun. Sue and John Abel aka Mother and Father and all the girls who welcomed me in as their own making me the 7th daughter, thank you for making giving up never an option. My best friends Emily, Krystal, and Cate who brought the wine for the whine sessions, you girls are my rock. My sister who has always taken me in when I need a place to go. My grandma for raising me to be the person I am. Dr. Johnson for being my mentor over the past 8 years, I wouldn't be here without her. My ECHO family who supported me through my crazy schedule and welcomed me in instantly as a nurse. My dad who always believed in me and made my education possible.
To my girls who I have made lasting friendships with in this program. Kourtney, my cradle to grave, thank god for bad sense of direction because I couldn't have navigated this without you. Kimberlee who made sure that I was up on time and kept me in line along with Emily, Kelsi and Mara. You girls became my tribe and I couldn't imagine going through it without you to lean on when times were tough and doubt was present. We started the program together and we finished together. Lastly, my fellow nursing student graduates, it has been a long hard road but we made it through together.

What I like best about my degree program and what it means to me is:

Nursing is a job that is rewarding and fulfilling. It isn't just a job, it is a passion and helping those in their worst of times makes it all worth it.

What I enjoyed most about my experience at Three Rivers Community College was:

My instructors who wanted to see us all succeed and provided support to make it happen.

Clubs, volunteer work, organizations that I participated in while at Three Rivers included:

Party planning committee, the finer things club

I plan to use my degree to:

Continue work in oncology, now as a nurse.

Now that I have completed college, I’m most looking forward to:

Helping my patients in a bigger way and spending more time with my daughter.

What I’ll miss most about Three Rivers is:

My fellow students and instructors.
