Nursing, A.S.

Current Residence :

Hartford

Degree/Certificate:

Nursing, A.S.

Year of Graduation:

2020

I wanted to earn my degree because:

Nursing has always been my passion, I have been in the medical field since 16 years old. It warms my heart that I will be able to take care of patients. I will be the nurse that they remember because of how I made them feel.

While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:

My greatest supporters were my children, Carlisle and Cameron, because they pushed me to work harder. My parents, my family especially the ones in Jamaica, my fiancé, my friends and my classmates. Without you all being there I wouldn’t be able to finish my degree.

I’d like to give a shout out to:

My instructors, you are all awesome. Teri, thank you for raising the bar for me, it pushed me to go higher. Having you as my teacher and clinical instructor made me work even harder. Jill, Sara, Melissa, Carol, Rachel, Colleen, Andrea, Charlene, Lisa, Karen Amor etc. Thank You all for molding me, and believing in me. It wasn’t easy, but I made it!

What I like best about my degree program and what it means to me is:

This degree program is not for the weak. I love how it challenged me and made me into a great nurse. There were so many things I didn’t know but learned because of the TRCC nursing program.

What I enjoyed most about my experience at Three Rivers Community College was:

I love the fact that the people in the nursing program set you up for success and not failure. From day one, that stuck to me. I will never forget them telling me they want me to exceed.

I plan to use my degree to:

Take care of others with my caring demeanor and the passion I have for nursing. This is only one of the many milestones I plan to accomplish. I plan to advance my degree from an Associate in Nursing to a doctorate in nursing.

Now that I have completed college, I’m most looking forward to:

I am looking forward to all the experiences I will gain working as an RN. I am eager to learn and practice skills that will make me an even better nurse. I also look forward to finishing up my bachelors in nursing in the next couple months.

What I’ll miss most about Three Rivers is:

I will miss my instructors because their doors were always open. Whether it is to cry or to laugh, they were such a huge part of my success.
