Sarah I am so proud of you ! You have made your own choices and have owned your decisions as an adult who takes advice, however is an independent thinker. TRCC offered me a good opportunity for experience and guidance that set my course and guided my path much the same as yours! I love you and I am so proud and happy you are finding your path and reaching your goals! Love mom .

Degree/Certificate:

General Studies, A.S.

Year of Graduation:

2021

I wanted to earn my degree because:

I want to make a better future for myself. I want to be able to go on to earn my BSW, MSW, and LCSW. I truly hope one day to be able to own my own private practice and be able to provide therapy.

While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:

My parents, brother, professors, and especially Maria Krug. The biggest supporter of my time at TRCC was my loving boyfriend Matt Murphy. I am so grateful to have him as my best friend. He truly is my hero and the reason why I have gotten through the good and the bad times.

I’d like to give a shout out to:

My mother Maryann Carter who started at TRCC. She worked full time while raising my siblings and I. For most of my life she had been in school working so hard to be at a point where she can be successful. She now is a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, and I could not be more proud of who she is. I am so proud of her and I would never be half the woman I am without her.

What I like best about my degree program and what it means to me is:

The flexibility to take courses that interest me. I discovered that after taking human services , sociology, and psychology courses that my true passion would be in the field of social work.

What I enjoyed most about my experience at Three Rivers Community College was:

The excellent professors and amazing advisors that work to help us succeed.

I plan to use my degree to:

Continue my bachelors in social work at St. Joseph’s College at Maine. I then intend to be in advanced standing and complete my masters. I am driven to receive my LCSW where I can practice privately to provide therapy services to those in need.

Now that I have completed college, I’m most looking forward to:

Completing my bachelors and getting great field experience.

What I’ll miss most about Three Rivers is:

My advisor Maria Krug. She was absolutely amazing and I owe everything to her.
