  • Louise Summa

    Dearest Mary,
I have reserved my highest accolades for you -one of my best and finest students of my 40 + years career in higher education. The most incredible and amazing thing about you is that having you in the classroom was truly like having another teacher in the room.
Your gifts are many but I believe that your intelligence, hard work, sense of humor, insightful mind, giving nature and drive to succeed ethically get top billing.
Your potential is without limit–I can only imagine what you will conquer next !
The world is your pearl Mary –go forward with grace as- you are accustomed -and please stay close.
    Best,
    louise

    Mary,
Congratulations! I am so proud of you.
You are an amazing person and I am so grateful that you are part of my life – even we are living so many thousand miles apart from each other. You have contributed so much to my life the last 15 years. So much, for what I am very thankful.
You can be so proud what you have achieved. I am happy you fulfilled your dream and are now ready to chase the next one (I would suggest TR6). Enjoy the celebration.
Cannot wait to see you hopefully soon again! Miss and Love ya

    Dear Mary,

As you said it gets more difficult to take up a challenge after already facing difficulties in the past when tackling them. That is why you should be even more proud of yourself proving that it can still be done and by this being a role model to all of us.

I can only say, congratulations for achieving your goal and for not giving up, even it was not always easy!

Your energy is enviable and I am thankful that I was given the chance to meet you back in 2006.

Enjoy your day and celebrate big time 🙂

    Love
    Johanna

Mary – Congratulations on your accomplishment. This is your time to celebrate. Think of all of those long days traveling through various states for work and then coming to school all charged up, engaged, and eager to participate in those 3 ½ hour night classes…. till 9:30pm. Your participation and application of your experiences in the business world with the accounting and business concepts taught in class were so valuable to the classroom discussions and your fellow students. I was amazed how you inspired and encouraged your fellow classmates to work hard and strive for academic excellence. You were a leader in class as I am sure you are at work. Keep up the great work and continue to make a difference. All the best, Ed

    Momma!
I am so incredibly proud of you and all you have accomplished! You set a goal for yourself and even through many obstacles you perservered and never gave up! You are an inspiration to me every single day. You have shown me that no matter what might happen in life, if you set your mind to something you can absolutely acheive it! I watched you stay up late, attend study groups, get up for work only to then attend a three hour night class yet you never once conceded. Your hard work and determination is beyond admired by anyone who knows you! I could not be any more proud of you than I already am! I love you so much and thank you for being the best version of you always, showing me that anything is possible and, to never give up! YOU DID IT! XOXO

General Studies, A.S.

Year of Graduation:

2020

I wanted to earn my degree because:

This was a third attempt as I started College in 1977 and it was necessary to leave in early 1979. I then began to work and earned a good living but the daunting fact that I did not finished bothered me. I started back at Eastern (ECSC) and just felt loss and did not have the support I needed. Fact is we all say its never too late but ... Ii sure is harder going back to school later in life as there is so much to balance and your circle of friends are gone and technology has now entered the education study plan .And now that I had a family, my focus was to support my daughter to be whatever she wanted to be .Going back to school was always on my mind and so in the Fall of 2016 I met with an advisor( Kathleen Gray) and I was on my way.

While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:

My daughter was my biggest cheerleader for sure, she was there through all the ups/downs and never gave up on me! My brother Charlie was a great advocate for me and attended all the academic meetings at ECSC and Three Rivers and was always a positive influence .And then there was my sister-in-law Janice who I could debate and discuss the courses and she often thought I would drive myself crazy with work and school as I often was on overload . But i would not have finished if it was not for all the care and giving the three of them shared. Thank you all!

I’d like to give a shout out to:

In 2016, Professor Mayer was my first and in 2020 he was my last professor and from the start in 2016 he was caring and guided me and showed great patience with my adjustment to the modern changes and was always encouraging me along the way. Thank you!

Louise Summa - the courses I had with her are so memorable. She will be missed at Three Rivers for sure. Louise became my rock and biggest fan. As my job took me out of state often she was flexible and caring. She came to all my activities at Three Rivers when I was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa and The National Society of Leadership and Success. Thank you for always being there!

Professor Forando -- "Wow" what a course. I think every student should have the opportunity to take this course as itis of my opinion that as we all enter the work force this is a preperation to understand fully what to expect and how to be ahead of your co-workers and lead . I only wished that the C-19 Virus had not hit so we could have had more in person lectures . Thanks for keeping us all together and making the course seem like we were never interupted by the virus ! Thank you !

Last but not least --Edwin Muenzner- The always upbeat and positive energy driven Professor ( which he does not like to becalled ) his study groups and "mad minutes " was something that encoraged me and it became infectous . I would look forward to the Saturdays and extra hours as he made learning easy and enjoyable .His story in itself was a driving force for me or any one of us in the class. He taught beyond the #'s of checks and balances ,we knew that if we had a dream to succeed we could .He would often remind us of what HARD WORK rewards you with .
More of the Professors at Three Rivers should mirror his intesity for it truely is infectious in such a positive way it would only help you to be successful in your undertakings .His attitude and dierction ,always available to take questions and often allowed us to study at his "Solution Center " . I am forever grateful for his guidance and support .Ed Muenzner has been more of an influence for me to complete College then he will ever know ! Thank you !

What I like best about my degree program and what it means to me is:

My courses were a mixture as I had credits from two other Colleges.

What I enjoyed most about my experience at Three Rivers Community College was:

I enjoyed the faculty and those involved in my path to succeed.

Clubs, volunteer work, organizations that I participated in while at Three Rivers included:

I annually volunteer for the Special Olympics. I was a member of Phi Theta Kappa and the National Society of Leadership and Success.

I plan to use my degree to:

The completion was really a bucket task. But as it turns out my employer looked at what I completed and the degree will give me an opportunity to take a higher position with the company as well as increase in pay.

Now that I have completed college, I’m most looking forward to:

The free time to spend with my family and pets. I want to enjoy my home and garden. Most of all --- I want to spend time with my daughter.

What I’ll miss most about Three Rivers is:

Meeting new people and stepping out of my comfort zone. I will miss all those that I gave a shout out to for all that they have shared and taught.
