I wanted to earn my degree because:

I have always been very passionate about women's health. It has been my goal to empower women by providing competent care through all phases of their journey, particularly pregnancy and childbirth. Because of this, I have set my sights on midwifery. I sought this degree to ensure that any women who is under my care felt comfortable and safe throughout the process. As I continue my education, I know that Three Rivers has prepared me for a successful transition into the world of nursing.

While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:

My greatest supporters through this challenging time were my classmates, my family, and my instructors.

I’d like to give a shout out to:

Emily and Mara for getting me through third semester, and to Kimberlee, Kourtney, and Shay for all the times in between. My parents, Kris and Andrea King, for listening to me vent when the stress got to be too much. To Tyler for making sure the kids were fed and homework was done while I was busy at clinicals. And Marc, for keeping me sane and always cheering me on when I felt like quitting.

What I like best about my degree program and what it means to me is:

I am a transplant to Connecticut, but when I got here I was happy to learn that TRCC's Nursing program was one of the best in the state. I was reminded of this when I would show up to the hospital for clinicals and the nurses would breathe a sigh of relief knowing that we were TRCC students. I am very proud to tell people where I earned my degree.

What I enjoyed most about my experience at Three Rivers Community College was:

The friendships. I made friends that will last a lifetime. We have cried together, we have laughed together, we have pushed each other to be the best we can be. I don't believe that is something you get in every college program.

I plan to use my degree to:

I plan to use my degree to earn more degrees. I will go back to school for my bachelor's and then to graduate school. But this degree has given me the ability to start a career in the meantime.
