2020I wanted to earn my degree because:
I wanted to earn my degree because teaching has been my passion ever since I was a little. It was important to me to be able to start out right away taking the classes to expose myself to the degree to make sure that it was something I wanted to do when I 'grew up'.
While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:
While earning my degree, my greatest supporters was my mom and dad. They helped me with understanding the financial parts to college and being able to go about it the right way. I am really appreciative from the support that they have given me throughout these years, and I know it will continue.
I’d like to give a shout out to:
I would like to give a shout out to my professor and advisor Sheila Skahan along with my professor Heather Basset. Both of these teachers make sure they are their for their students. They also make sure that if anyone has questions that they assist the student and if they do not know the answer than they will find a way to get the answer for the student. They are also really good people to look up to and to help the students that they have with their teaching career in the future.
What I like best about my degree program and what it means to me is:
What I liked the best, besides having exposure to working and observing in classrooms, was the relationships that were formed. The Early Childhood Education is such a small field that you usually take the same path with people for the few years that were there. I felt really close to a lot of people in this major and I cannot wait to see where their path takes them. Maybe we will even teach at the same school one day!
Clubs, volunteer work, organizations that I participated in while at Three Rivers included:
While at Three Rivers, I was inducted into the National Society of Leadership and Success. This really taught me about leadership and how to be a leader. I was also the Vice President of the Future Educators Club. This club even made us closer. It also put my leadership skills to the test.
Now that I have completed college, I’m most looking forward to:
I am looking forward to continuing my education at Southern Connecticut State University. Then of course get my masters.
What I’ll miss most about Three Rivers is:
I will miss the people that I met along my journey - including Sheila Skahan and Heather Basset. I will also miss the library, as a commuter that became my study place.
