It was so much fun having you in my National Society of Leadership and Success group. It was NEVER a dull moment. Going to miss having the notorious Narwhal in my class so we can snack through lessons and our study party group in the library. You already are doing AMAZING things but I can’t wait to see what you do next. Congratulations, we did it! 🙂

Degree/Certificate:

Psychology Studies, A.A.

Year of Graduation:

2020

I wanted to earn my degree because:

I wanted to provide a better life for myself and my son and pursue my passion in assisting the veteran community.

While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:

My family, my girlfriend Allison and my friends.

What I like best about my degree program and what it means to me is:

Getting this degree is a big accomplishment for me as I never saw myself going to college. After high school I joined the Army where I spent almost 9 years serving with two deployments to Iraq. Working various positions in the security industry, I realized I wanted to do more for the veteran community, which would not happen without a degree. So I left my career in Armed Nuclear Security to become a full time student. My degree program has opened doors and enabled me to work towards a better life for myself and my son. I see it as an even bigger accomplishment as I was able to remain on the Deans List every semester while being a father, working, and running a non profit for Connecticut combat wounded veterans. Most importantly, this has shown my son that you're never too old to learn something new and with a little hard work and dedication, you can have whatever you want. If you want something bad enough go out and take it for yourself. The road will not be one that is easily traveled but the destination will be worth it.

What I enjoyed most about my experience at Three Rivers Community College was:

There was something for everyone in the matter of clubs to join or explore. There was always something happening on campus allowing students to connect with other students, further solidifying that community feeling. I have met a lot of great people and established professional relationships with some of the faculty which only made the experience more meaningful.

Clubs, volunteer work, organizations that I participated in while at Three Rivers included:

I sat on the Mental Health & Wellness & Suicide Prevention Advisory Board for the student veteran population, I was inducted into the National Society of Leadership and Success and, assisted in making the Purple Heart parking spots available for the combat wounded students and faculty through my organization, the Guardians of the Purple Heart.

I plan to use my degree to:

As an Industrial/ Organizational Psychologist I will be able to take my education and implement it into real world situations improving the overall foundation of any business and non profit organization. This will improve productivity as well as morale creating a thriving environment for everyone. This will also enable me to find ideal employment opportunities for the veteran community while establishing a work environment that is a cultural fit for everyone. To make one happy at work will create a domino effect that will spill over into every aspect of ones life. A happy person is a productive person.

Now that I have completed college, I’m most looking forward to:

I am not done with college just yet! I am now a full time student at Eastern Connecticut State University going for my Bachelors in Industrial/ Organizational Psychology. I am looking forward to seeing where this path will take me and discovering what changes I can make along the way.
