Congratulations, buddy! The last semester wasn’t the same without you. Hope everything is going well! Next time I go to Disney, I fully expect to go on a ride designed by Cody Sowell.

I’m so proud of you and all of your hard work Mr. Cody Sowell! All the stress and long nights have definitely paid off. I admire your persistence in pursuing your dreams, your imaginative way of thinking, and how you never meet a stranger. I look forward to continue being your proof reader, cheerleader, adventure partner, and biggest fan. Love you the most.

Engineering Science, A.S.

Current Residence :

Savannah, GA

Degree/Certificate:

Engineering Science, A.S.

Year of Graduation:

2020

I wanted to earn my degree because:

I want to provide the best possible life for my family while pursuing a career that I will enjoy doing. A college degree opens doors for employment with better paying positions.

While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:

My wife, Meredith Sowell! She is amazing. She has pursed her goals and dreams but on the back burner so I could pursue my degree. She deserves the best possible life and I owe her a bakery.

I’d like to give a shout out to:

Norwich Assembly of God, my church family. Specifically Pastor Randy Shibilo, the Youth, and the Men's Group.
The Student Programs Office: Specifically Alycia Z. and Seb.
The Veterans Taskforce and the Veterans Organization.
All the faculty and staff that were always available to talk with me. There are too many to name so I am not going to try!

What I like best about my degree program and what it means to me is:

I have always loved math and logic. My degree allowed me to: understand derivation of formulas I have used for years, apply my mathematic knowledge, and test my problem solving capabilities.

What I enjoyed most about my experience at Three Rivers Community College was:

The quality education from professional faculty that were personally invested in my success.

Clubs, volunteer work, organizations that I participated in while at Three Rivers included:

I was a member of the Veterans Organization and Student Government Association. I joined Phi Theta Kappa and Epsilon Pi Tau.

I plan to use my degree to:

I am currently studying Production Design at Savannah College of Art and Design in pursuit of a career in Themed Entertainment. Having an engineering degree in my back pocket will give me an advantage over my peers. Marrying the engineering and design aspects I will be able to create themed parks, lands, and attractions.

Now that I have completed college, I’m most looking forward to:

The near unlimited opportunities that are before me.

What I’ll miss most about Three Rivers is:

The community. Three Rivers is a watering hole for so many different kinds of people. Professors from India, students from Norwich, Navy veterans from around the country, kids straight out of high school, and life long learners. In this time of social distancing I miss being around the always lively community college where I earned my first college degree.
