Congratulations! You have persevered though the good and the bad, through thick and thin and maintained your focus until you achieved your goal. It’s been a joy to watch you grow and succeed. The journey was well worth the prize and it’s only just beginning. You’ve done yourself, your parents and your family proud! Well done. With love, Ma & Pa Bean.

Engineering Science, A.S.

Current Residence :

Canterbury

Degree/Certificate:

Engineering Science, A.S.

Year of Graduation:

2020

I wanted to earn my degree because:

When I was young, I allowed myself to become distracted from my education. For many years I had talked about going back, but I never did anything about it. I finally decided that I needed to do more for my family and for myself. One day, I walked into Three Rivers and three years later, here I am.

While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:

My wife and my kids put up with many nights and weekends with me shut up in my office, not to mention all of the physics and math talk they listened to. Even through all of that, they have been my biggest cheerleaders and I can never thank them enough.

I’d like to give a shout out to:

Once again, of course, I thank my beautiful wife and lovely daughters. I also am grateful to my parents, my mother and father-in-law, Jeremy and Kim, Joshua and Megan, and Vicki for all of their support and prayers through this entire process. I of course cannot forget Paul and Melody Copenhagen and Melissa Seagraves for the laughs and the Friday night quarantine game sessions.

What I like best about my degree program and what it means to me is:

I loved the content of the Engineering Science program. I fell in love with math and science all over again. Thermodynamics was especially amazing.

What I enjoyed most about my experience at Three Rivers Community College was:

What I liked most about Three Rivers was how much the professors truly cared about the success of their students. My advisor, Mark Vesligaj, not only helped me in getting through the program, but was also instrumental in helping me get into the new career I am currently in. I have greatly enjoyed my time at Three Rivers, and it has truly changed my life.

Clubs, volunteer work, organizations that I participated in while at Three Rivers included:

Epsilon Pi Tau

I plan to use my degree to:

I am planning on continuing my education and earning my bachelor's degree. This degree will also assist me as I continue to pursue a career in engineering and manufacturing.

Now that I have completed college, I’m most looking forward to:

Taking a vacation! My family has sacrificed a lot of time without me. Now I can spend some time making it up to them.

What I’ll miss most about Three Rivers is:

The people. I got to know many great students and professors during my time at Three Rivers. It was these people that made my classes fun and entertaining. It was with these students that I studied and struggled with (can anyone say Thermodynamics project?). It was the professors who made the material interesting and showed true passion for teaching it. I will miss the people the most.
