Year of Graduation:

2020

I am the first in my family to earn a college degree.

Yes

While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:

My family has been nothing but encouraging and supportive in my education endeavors. They have heard too many times, "I can't hangout, I have homework," and have understood every time. My parents, and my brothers Eric and Owen have been incredibly uplifting and supportive. I hope to make them proud.
My loving partner, Kyle. He was the one who pushed me to go to college, and then pushed me to go back. Supporting me in every sense of the word, every step of the way. He listened to me complain, threaten to drop out, and generally lose my mind countless times. He listened to me ramble on and on about science and muscles constantly, always nodding and smiling politely, even when he wished I would stop telling him about the anatomy of whichever body part I was learning that week. I could not have completed my degrees without his love and support.

I’d like to give a shout out to:

The professors within the Exercise Science program, Heidi Zenie and Michael Schroeder, who have been excellent educators, eager to share their knowledge and ensure that I have the skills needed in my career. Heidi has been a great guide though my 5 years at TRCC, helping me every (sometimes frustrating) step of the way. Mike has been the most engaging and excited teacher I have known, always coming up with new ways to teach us, and ensuring that the material was presented in various ways to accommodate different learning styles. I cannot thank these two enough for their wisdom and guidance over the last 5 years.

What I like best about my degree program and what it means to me is:

Within the exercise science program, it was very easy to meet others and learn from each other as well as from our teachers. I had the privilege of learning with and from a lot of really great people.

What I enjoyed most about my experience at Three Rivers Community College was:

I was nervous about going to college and Three Rivers welcomed me with open arms from day 1. Every administrator and faculty member has been nothing but helpful throughout my time there.

I plan to use my degree to:

I plan to do all I can to help others learn to take care of themselves via proper exercise and nutrition. There are a lot of misconceptions about fitness and nutrition in the world, and I hope to help people learn to navigate them.
