Political Science Studies, A.A.

Current Residence :

North Stonington

Degree/Certificate:

Political Science Studies, A.A.

I will also be graduating with the following additional degree(s) and certificates

Year of Graduation:

2020

I wanted to earn my degree because:

I wanted to show my children that it is never too late to achieve your goals, and I wanted to be able to start a career after being a stay-at-home mom for so many years.

While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:

Definitely my family, including my parents.

I’d like to give a shout out to:

My ability to succeed was made possible by my family, so many thanks owed to them. Also, too many professors to list them all, but certainly: Professor Dopirak, Professor Barry, Professor Mayer, Professor Nixon, Professor Hawes, Professor Neufeld, Professor Arrieta, Professor Amenta, and Professor Kennedy. Kathleen Gray who encouraged me to apply to schools I never thought I would get accepted to (Connecticut College, Trinity, Columbia, etc.) and was right - I was accepted to all. Without her, I would never have been brave enough to submit those applications. And definitely Kem Barfield who was always willing to listen and offer sound advice.

What I like best about my degree program and what it means to me is:

Political Science: Taking classes and doing honors projects with Professor Mayer and Professor Nixon. The program offered me a strong foundation of political knowledge, which has made it possible for me to successfully transfer to Wesleyan as a government major and earn a place on the Dean's list for the spring semester. Liberal Arts: Meeting the requirements for this degree pushed me into taking courses I may not have otherwise taken, and offered me a well-rounded education.

What I enjoyed most about my experience at Three Rivers Community College was:

The amazing professors, working for Kem Barfield, and the sense of strong community.

Clubs, volunteer work, organizations that I participated in while at Three Rivers included:

PTK, NSLS, and the Honors program

I plan to use my degree to:

I matriculated at Wesleyan Univeristy in January 2020.

Now that I have completed college, I’m most looking forward to:

Continuing my education.

What I’ll miss most about Three Rivers is:

The strong community, my professors, working in the Ed Tech office, and daily chats with Professor D.
