General Studies, A.S.Year of Graduation:
2020I wanted to earn my degree because:
I want to be a positive role model for my children. To show I am not the same person I was when I finished high school twenty years ago. Education is valuable and once earned, can never be taken away. There was a large part of me that just wanted to see if I could even do it.
While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:
My wife and teammate, Leilani Laroco-Chance. My daughter Darcy Chance, son Orin.
Mom and Dad for always supporting the path I chose.
The Chance, Laroco, Thomas, Stefanowicz, and Kane families.
I’d like to give a shout out to:
My tutors!
Lani: To say all things is an understatement but definitely French!
Marylou Devine: Proofreader, poet, and mentor extrodinare.
Jen Kane: Math. It is a special person that can make sense of quadratics over the phone.
Matt Thomas: Biology, comrade in continuing education.
The Stefs for always asking how school was going, always caring what the answer was, and talking me into much needed study
breaks.
Kathleen S. Gray: The best advisor anyone could hope for!
What I like best about my degree program and what it means to me is:
This is a finish line in a race I would have never expected to start twenty years ago. It is also a stepping stone to continue onward.
What I enjoyed most about my experience at Three Rivers Community College was:
Learning. I had some passionate professors who enjoyed what they taught. It was a privilege to be in their classes. I appreciated that they made my education and myself feel important and not just another paper to grade.
I plan to use my degree to:
Transfer to a four-year school and work on the next.
What I’ll miss most about Three Rivers is:
The cost of classes and intimacy compared to a four-year school.
