I am the first in my family to earn a college degree.

I wanted to earn my degree because:

I spent many years working jobs I was not passionate about. The pandemic gave me an opportunity to finally pursue my education and turn my life around for the better. I'll be leaving TRCC with my A.S. in General Studies and transferring to ECSU for my Bachelors in Computer Science.

While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:

My partner Evan, who has been my cheerleader and the biggest contributor of support on my journey back to school. My parents, who always hoped this day would come. My friends who have become family, who supported me and had words of encouragement from the start. I love you all <3

I’d like to give a shout out to:

The IT department whom I've worked closely with as a Student Worker for the past year, that gave me confidence and a reason to come on campus. Tracy Dickson, who helped me during my readmittance and through the appeal process, who's kindness and knowledge helped me feel confident that I was capable of doing this, and that I would succeed.

What I like best about my degree program and what it means to me is:

I started off following the CS pathways program, so I've taken mostly computer science classes. I love the liberal arts concept and way of teaching. I've loved my CS classes but have highly enjoyed my liberal arts classes as well. I feel more cultured and well rounded having taken an array of different classes.

I plan to use my degree to:

Go on to further my education. I will be transferring to ECSU in the fall to pursue my Bachelors in Computer Science with a minor in Game Design.

Now that I have completed college, I’m most looking forward to:

Having no homework for 3 months.

What I’ll miss most about Three Rivers is:

My coworkers in the IT department <3
