Marcus EngelJoin us Tuesday, October 15 for Marcus Engel’s keynote presentation. As a college freshman, Marcus Engel was blinded and nearly killed after being struck by a drunk driver. Through years of rehab, over 350 hours of reconstructive facial surgery, and adaptation through a multitude of life changes, Engel witnessed the good, the bad and the profound in patient care. Join us as he shares his experiences as a young patient and the extensive effect that healthcare professionals had upon him. Free and open to the public, the event will be held at Three Rivers Community College on Tuesday, October 15, 2019, 10:00 a.m. and again at 5:00 p.m. in room F-117. The presentation is part of the Dr. Booker T. DeVaughn lecture series, which is funded by the Three Rivers College Foundation and Dime Bank.

“The Other End of the Stethoscope” reminds healthcare professionals of the vital role they play in the healing process of patients. This keynote details the experience of a young patient during hospitalization, the care and compassion shown by health care professionals and the importance of health care professionals to be safe, secure and appreciated in their role within this sacred field.

Marcus Engel, M.S., CPXP, CSP is a Certified Speaking Professional and author whose messages provide insight and strategies for excellent patient care. His keynote presentation, “The Other End of the Stethoscope” has inspired and educated tens of thousands of healthcare professionals to improve patient experiences through compassionate communication during their time of suffering.

This free presentation will appeal to a broad audience but will be of special interest to health care professionals, police officers, firefighters and first responders. Space is limited, so reserve your seat today by calling or emailing Meghan LaCasse at Mlacasse@trcc.commnet.edu and 860-215-9249.
