The Three Rivers College Foundation’s twenty-seventh annual Scholarship Awards were announced on Monday, May 18, 2020. Generous contributions led to over $425,000 in scholarships awarded to students.

Three Rivers College Foundation Scholarships and Department Awards

Adventures in Life Long Learning – Eugene Frank Memorial Scholarship *
Awarded to a student who is 30 years or older, has earned 30 or more credits at TRCC, and has a 3.0 or higher GPA.

Adventures in Life Long Learning – Grace S. Jones Scholarship for Excellence *
Awarded to a student who is 30 years or older, has earned 30 or more credits at TRCC, and has a 3.0 or higher GPA.

AFE CHAPTER 122 *
Scholarship awarded to a student enrolled in an engineering discipline who has maintained a 3.0 GPA with demonstrated financial need.

The American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA) Award
Scholarship awarded to a student currently enrolled at TRCC who has taken at least student two of the following classes: World Civ I, World Civ II, World Regional Geography, War & Society in World Civilizations, 20th Century Europe, Intro to Philosophy, Ethics, Architecture of the World, World Religions, or Art History I. Alumni Association-Children of Alumni Scholarship * 
Scholarship awarded to a current student at Three Rivers and whose parent(s), grandparent(s), or legal guardian graduated from Mohegan Community College, Thames Valley State Technical College or Three Rivers Community College.

Alumni Association-First Year Scholarship *
Applicant must be a first year student currently enrolled at Three Rivers who will have completed a minimum of 6 -30 course credits. Applicant must show characteristics of maturity and clearly indicate that education experience is necessary for advancement.

Alumni Association/Outstanding Graduating Student * 
Current graduating class member actively involved in community service, college activities, tutoring or other extra-curricular activities.

Ann M. Ahamed Scholarship * 
Scholarship is awarded to a graduating high school student recommended by a guidance counselor or teacher and has demonstrated financial need. The awardee’s field of study can be any. Award recipient may reapply the following year but must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA.

Ann Rosenow Award
Award is in honor of the 1st Director of the Nursing Division. The name of all recipients are inscribed on a plaque which hangs in the Helene Fuld Nursing Laboratory at Three Rivers on the second floor in room 218.

Attorney Bart Sayet  & Lori Lindfors Scholarships
(2) $1,000 scholarships awarded to a full or part-time students.  Awardee’s field of study can be any.

Betty Anne Reiter Award
Awarded to a student enrolled in the Library Technology Certificate Program.

Business and Technologies Awards
Awarded to student(s) enrolled in the Business and/or Technologies Program and maintain a 3.0 GPA. (Value of award varies)

Capano Family Scholarship *
Provides (2) partial scholarships to deserving students with demonstrated financial need with a positive attitude and a drive to achieve. This candidate must be a current employee of ShopRite of Norwich, New London, or Clinton, or is a child of or a grandchild of a current employee of these ShopRite stores.

Charles W. Kitchings Memorial Scholarship *
Scholarship awarded to a nursing student who has shown leadership and has completed Nursing 102 and maintains a 3.0 GPA.

Chelsea Groton Bank Scholarship
A Platinum sponsor for our Scholarship Celebration. Awarding 4 students scholarships who have distinguished themselves as academic scholars.

CorePlus Credit Union Nursing Scholarship in honor of Madelyn Lyman
Awarded to a nursing student entering their final year of the nursing program.

Dime Bank Scholarship
A Bronze Sponsor for our Scholarship Celebration. Awarding a $500 scholarship to a highly motivated self-starter student who exhibits a strong work ethic.

Dominion Nuclear Connecticut/Millstone Power Station Scholarships
Deadline for application for this scholarship is February 15.
Provides 16 full scholarships for the two-year Nuclear Engineering Technology Associate Degree program which is ETAC of ABET-accredited. Benefits include all tuition and fees, book support, a monthly stipend during the academic year, and a paid 12-week summer internship at their Millstone Nuclear Complex in Waterford, CT. Dorothy Lewis and Family Scholarship *
Scholarship awarded to a student who demonstrates a genuine commitment in pursuing higher education with demonstrated financial need.

Dr. Douglass Feeney Memorial Award
Awarded to a deserving student who supports their community.

Drs. Booker & Elena DeVaughn Scholarship
A Silver Sponsor for our Scholarship Celebration.  Awarding 2 scholarships for students pursuing their associate’s degree.

Eastern CT Savings Bank Scholarship
A Friend Sponsor for our Scholarship Celebration.  Awarding 1 scholarship to a deserving student achieving academic excellence.

Edward and Maria Hargus Scholarship *
Scholarship awarded to a deserving part-time or full-time student.  Awardee’s field of study can be any.

Edward P. Lord Scholarship *
Two partial scholarships awarded to students enrolled in an engineering discipline, preferably electrical engineering technology.

English and Communication Awards
The Distinction in English Studies, Distinction in Communications Studies and the English & Communications Graduating Student Award.

Eugene and Florence 74′ Frank Scholarship
Applicant must be a female non-traditional student (35 years or older) who has completed one year at TRCC and has a 3.0 GPA.

Freeport McMoRan Scholarship
A Silver Sponsor for our Scholarship Celebration. Awarding a $500 scholarship toward a student’s educational journey.

G. Donovan & Associates Scholarships
One (1) $1,000 scholarship and one (1) book scholarship awarded to a full or part-time student.  Awardee’s field of study can be any.

Graphic Design Awards
Awarded to students majoring in graphic design with a minimum 3.0 GPA.  Award recipient(s) is determined by portfolio review.

Harriet Jane Dibble Scholarships
Scholarships awarded to a student enrolled full or part-time in one of the Early Childhood Education or Computer Sciences programs at TRCC.

Helen and Joseph Jukoski Scholarship *
Scholarship presented to a TRCC student who demonstrates a desire to advance their higher educations to achieve his/her academic goals.

Humanities and Social Sciences Awards
Awarded to student(s) who have completed five humanities and or social science courses from 3 different disciplines and maintain a 3.0 GPA. (Value of award varies)

Janey Schultz Scholarship
Scholarship is awarded to a female student who is trying to improve their lives, often under challenging circumstances.

Joan Grove and Carolyn Krohn Memorial Scholarships *
Two scholarships awarded to a non-traditional nursing student, one who has completed the 102 course and one who has completed the 201 course. Students must maintain a 2.7 GPA.

John and Mary LaMattina Scholarship Fund *
Scholarship awarded to a TRCC Humanities student who has financial need and has the likelihood to persist despite personal challenges; demonstrated exceptional support for peers and/or College and overall performance in work of the course.  

Judith Cook Albright Memorial Nursing Scholarship *
Awarded to a full or part-time nursing student who has demonstrated leadership and has shown a desire to become a life-long nurse.  GPA of 3.0 is preferred.

Kyle Douglas Emmerthal Memorial Scholarship *
Awarded to a part or full-time student with financial need enrolled in one of the many STEM degree programs who shows a love for learning or in some way, active with helping others or in the environment.

Lawrence + Memorial Hospital Scholarships
A Platinum Sponsor for our Scholarship Award Ceremony.  Awarding numerous scholarships for TRCC students who demonstrate that education is necessary for advancement.

Leonard A Wenzel Scholarship
$1,000 scholarship awarded to a full or part-time nursing student.

Library Technology Scholarships
Awarded to student(s) enrolled in the Library Technology certificate program who have completed at least one Library Technology course.  (Value of award varies)

The LaMattina Foundation Scholarship *
Scholarship awarded to a full time returning student, 25 years or older enrolled in a Liberal Arts & Science or Business Program at TRCC with a 2.7 GPA.

Lorraine “Ma” Hammel Awards
Awarded to one freshman and one senior who have demonstrated perseverance toward their goal of becoming a registered nurse. (Value of award varies)

Luke J. Malek Scholarship *
Scholarship awarded to a current graduate of Griswold High School enrolled in a STEM discipline. (Value of award varies)

Mark Ballestrini Memorial Scholarship *
Scholarship awarded to a part- or full-time student. Awardee’s field of study can be any. Applicant must show involvement in the community through volunteer and community service work with a positive attitude and drive to achieve. (Value of award varies)

Martha Montgomery Memorial Award
Awarded to a full or part-time African-American student who has displayed an incessant commitment to their academic studies.

Mathematics and Science Awards
Presented to students who have excelled in science and math classes at TRCC.

Matthew P. Hightower Memorial Award
Awarded to the student with a GPA of 3.7 or greater, with at least 20 credits taken at TRCC, whose focus is in the area of public accounting with a desire to become a certified public accountant. Preference will be given to a non-traditional student.

Mystic Garden Club Scholarships
Two (2) $1,000 scholarships to deserving students who are committed to protecting the environment.

New London County Medical Association Scholarship*
Scholarship awarded to a full-or part-time student who demonstrates academic achievement and financial need.  Awardee’s field of study can be any. (Value of award varies)

Nicola & Yester Company, PC Book Scholarship
A Bronze Sponsor for our Scholarship Celebration.  One (1) book scholarship awarded to a full or part-time student.  Awardee’s field of study can be any.

Norwich Public Utilities Scholarship *
Scholarship provides full tuition or continuing TRCC student who is a Norwich resident and has made contributions to the community either through volunteer work or through extracurricular activities at his/her high school. The student must be an Engineering or Business major preferably with interest in economic development or energy efficiency.

Nursing Class of 2020 Award
Awarded to a nursing student who is involved in the Student Nurse Association.

Patrick Kane Nursing Awards Nursing Class of 2020 Award
Awarded to students who have demonstrated commitment to their studies.  (Value of awards varies)

Ralph & Lillian Pelliccio Memorial Scholarship *
Scholarship awarded to a member of the current graduating class who has demonstrated excellence in either accounting or business administration and will be transferring to a four year college on a full-time basis in business or accounting field.

Robert N. Rue Scholarship
Awarded to a nursing student who demonstrates the ability to make appropriate clinical judgments in providing quality, holistic patient care. The recipient will demonstrate a life-long desire to become a nurse with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Rose City BNI Scholarships
Scholarships awarded to students who demonstrate community or campus service, shown academic excellence and determination by obtaining a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Student Government Association Honor Scholarship 
Student(s) must have a GPA of 3.75 or higher and have completed at least 20 credit hours.

Student Government Association Involvement Scholarship 
Student(s) who show involvement in the TRCC community, who have a minimum 2.5 GPA and have completed at least 20 credit hours will be considered.

Student Leader Award(s)
Students who exemplify a commitment to excellence, service to the college community and demonstrates academic success.

TRC Foundation Scholarships
Full and partial scholarships available for students enrolled at Three Rivers.    The awardee’s field of study can be any.

TRC Foundation Diversity Award
Awarded to students who bring a unique perspective and identify to Three Rivers Community College.

Veronica W. Cronin Nursing Scholarship *
Scholarship awarded to a nursing student who has shown leadership and has completed Nursing 101 and maintains a 3.0 GPA.

Veterans Scholarship
One (1) $500 scholarship awarded to a member of the Veterans Organization Club or OASIS user.  Awardee’s field of study can be any.

Visual Fine Arts Awards
Awarded to a first-year and graduating student from the Visual Fine Arts program who maintained a 3.0 GPA.

VNA Nightingale Scholarship *
Awarded to a TRCC (full or part-time) nursing student who resides in Eastern Connecticut and demonstrates academic achievement and financial need.

Wilbur B. Beckwith Scholarship *
Awarded to full or part-time students enrolled at Three Rivers with demonstrated financial need.

William “Kirk” Kirkpatrick Award
Award goes to a student who has earned an A in both Anatomy & Physiology I and II.

William F. Muenzner Memorial Scholarship *
Awarded to a hardworking student with demonstrated financial need who is pursuing their Associates Degree in the accounting field.
