Course Description

This 4 hour course provides introductory knowledge about cannabis as well as detailed information about how medical cannabis is practiced in Connecticut. This class will explore approved medical conditions and how cannabis can be used to treat them. A variety of topics including state laws on medical marijuana, the chemical composition of cannabis, and how it plays a role in human physiology and pharmacology.

Medical Cannabis topics include:

  • The history of cannabis use and its prohibition in the US from legal and cultural perspectives
  • The state of the cannabis industry in the United States from legal, regulatory, and policy perspectives
  • The Endocannabinoid System: How and why cannabis works
  • The Pharmacology of Cannabis
  • All about Terpenes
  • Potential Therapeutic Effects
  • The adverse effects of Cannabis
  • Dosage forms of Medical Cannabis
  • Understanding dosing and absorption
  • The drug interacts and consumer safety
  • Substance use disorders and intoxication

Certification

Students completing this training will receive a certificate of completion, which will include CEU’S for professional development
