Fingerpicking Guitar 101

Course Description

If you can strum a few simple chords comfortably on the guitar and want to spice up your playing with some fun right-hand fingerpicking, you are the perfect candidate for this workshop. Instructor Ramblin’ Dan Stevens unlocks the “secrets” to basic fingerpicking techniques employed by the great folk and blues masters breaking them down into easy to digest component parts.

With the help of supplemental materials and access to additional free online instruction, students will learn basic fingerpicking patterns and apply them to standard folk songs like “Freight Train,” “San Francisco Bay Blues,” “Don’t Think Twice” (Dylan), and others. Dan will give you the necessary skills to have you pickin’ in no time.

The workshop is intended for beginning fingerpickers and is held in 6 one-hour sessions.

Dan Stevens has been traveling the world as a full-time musician for the last 20 years and has learned from some of the greats, including Boston’s acclaimed bluesman Paul Rishell and New York City guitar legend Dave Van Ronk.
