Virtual Super Saturday Registration
Virtual Super Saturday Registration

Three Rivers Community College is holding a virtual Super Saturday to assist students with enrolling and registering for the Spring semester on Saturday, January 9 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Students can take advantage of these extended Saturday hours to speak with an advisor and register from the comfort and safety of home. At Three Rivers, students will find programs in fields that are hiring like tech, health care, manufacturing, and more, all for the lowest tuition in Connecticut.

Students can attend with a click of their mouse on Saturday and speak with Three Rivers staff who can guide them through registration. Whether they need to enroll, plan a schedule of classes, or have questions about financial aid or payment plans, someone can help!

This event requires students to sign up in advance by visiting www.threerivers.edu/super-saturday to reserve their appointment. Spaces are limited. A staff member will talk with them, review their information, help them with next steps, and, if necessary, make a further appointment for the following week.

Students don’t need to wait for Super Saturday to register for Spring classes which start on Friday, January 22. The best way to guarantee getting the classes needed is to register now. They can visit www.threerivers.edu/springwinter for more information on registering or call 860-215-9016 or email admissions@threerivers.edu with questions.

Fafsa workshop

YES, YOU CAN COMPLETE YOUR FAFSA BECAUSE WE’LL HELP!

Applying for financial aid for college doesn’t have to be stressful. Take the mystery out of FASFA when you attend one of two free workshops offered by Three Rivers Community College.

If you or your child are planning to attend college in the Fall 2020, then you need to complete your 20/21 FAFSA application, no matter what college you’re attending. This can be daunting, but we’re here to help. Three Rivers Financial Aid experts, Director Kenneth M. Briggs and Donna Ramos, with almost 40 years of combined experience, will lead the workshops. The FAFSA Completion Workshops will be held on Monday, December 9 from 1:00-3:00 pm and again from 5:30-7:30 pm.

You will be given an overview of FASFA and then guided through filling out the forms on individual computers. The workshop offers bilingual help and is perfect for first generation students (the first students in their family to attend college).

PLEASE NOTE: You will need to bring your 2018 Tax Returns, W2s (if any) and FSA IDs for both you and your parents if you are a dependent. FSA IDs can be obtained at www.StudentAid/gov/fsaid.

Despite stories of burdensome college loans, everyone can afford college and minimize student debt with financial aid. And FAFSA is the first step to obtaining financial aid. The free workshops are for anyone who is considering attending public or private college to pursue a 2-year or 4-year degree. They will be held at Three Rivers in the computer lab in Room B-116 on Monday, December 9 from 1:00-3:00 pm and again from 5:30-7:30 pm.

Visit www.threerivers.edu/fafsaworkshop to reserve your space. For further information, please call 860-215-9040.

In The Thick LIVE from Connecticut: Mental Health
In The Thick LIVE from Connecticut: Mental Health
Three Rivers Community College, Norwich Connecticut

In the Thick PodcastThree Rivers will be hosting In The Thick LIVE on October 16! Award-winning journalists and In The Thick co-hosts Maria Hinojosa and Julio Ricardo Varela travel to Eastern Connecticut for a live show to discuss addiction in POC communities in CT and nationally, as well as the mental health impact with guests.

Drug addiction continues to plague the United States. And though it’s often treated as an issue within white communities – who do make up a majority of opioid overdose victims – a CDC report released earlier this year found that black and Latinos are overdosing and dying increasingly faster than whites are. Connecticut has been seen as ground zero for the epidemic where the Oxycontin-maker Purdue Pharma was based and 93 percent of overdoses in the state, are caused by opioids. But the local community has been organizing to save lives around the state.

This event is open to the public and will be held in F-117. Doors open at 5:30 pm and live show recording will begin promptly at 6 pm. RSVP for your free seat at threerivers.edu/inthethick.

This live taping of In The Thick is made possible through support from the Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut and the William Caspar Graustein Memorial Fund.
