Three Rivers Graduates can Attend Charter Oak State College This Fall at Community College Tuition Rates

Studying StudentThree Rivers Community College is excited to announce their new Community College Tuition Match Scholarship Agreement with Charter Oak State College. This allows Charter Oak to provide the last two years of a bachelor’s degree to graduates of associate degree programs at Three Rivers for the same cost of tuition and fee rates as Three Rivers. Not including fees, a three-credit course at Charter Oak would cost $894, but with the tuition match scholarship it will cost only $489, the Three Rivers rate. This agreement goes into effect for the Fall 2018 semester.

To apply for the scholarship, students need to meet the following requirements:

  • Attain 2.3 or higher Grade Point Average
  • Complete the associate degree
  • Enroll at Charter Oak State College within 6 months of completing Associate’s degree

“Earning a degree at Charter Oak represents an exciting chance for our Three Rivers graduates to earn an affordable bachelor’s degree in a timely manner that is responsive to their personal circumstances,” said Mary Ellen Jukoski, President of Three Rivers. Interim Academic Dean Jerry Ice agreed, saying, “This is a super opportunity for our graduates to combine the access, affordability and flexibility of Three Rivers with the characteristics of Charter Oak, where time and location are not barriers to a bachelor’s degree.”

The tuition scholarship is good for five years.  To maintain the scholarship, the student must enroll in a minimum of six Charter Oak credits in the fall and spring semesters. This would allow the student to graduate in five years, if attending part-time. Students can take more courses at the reduced rate and thus graduate earlier, take courses in the summer, or take additional courses, as applicable at Three Rivers as long as they adhere to the requirements stated above.

Eligible students should apply for financial aid, including Federal Pell Grants, to help cover the costs of their college expenses. They will be responsible for books, tech fee, and any other course related expenses. Students will also need to meet Charter Oak State College’s degree requirements for the bachelor’s degree.

Interested Three Rivers students should contact Charter Oak State College Admissions at admissions@charteroak.edu.
