New TASCAt 10 a.m. on Monday, October 30, Three Rivers Community College will celebrate the newly renovated Tutoring and Academic Success Center (TASC) with a ribbon cutting ceremony, including Three Rivers President Mary Ellen Jukoski and CSCU President Mark Ojakian. After the ribbon cutting in room C113, guests will be welcome to tour the expanded facility and enjoy refreshments.

The renovated TASC space, a one-stop shop for free academic support, is larger, brighter and designed for flexible usage. New features include six private tutoring rooms, state-of-the-art collaborative technology stations, and an expanded reception and scheduling area. Encompassing the Tutoring Center, Writing Center, Math Computer Lab and Language Arts Lab, TASC is manned by a collaborative team of highly-qualified faculty, staff, student peers, and community volunteers. It provides a learner-centered environment that values student success, facilitating improved student performance and persistence.

President Mary Ellen Jukoski says, “This new space is ideal for our students. The functional and flexible environment is not only inviting to students, but now better supports our superior tutoring services. It enables us to provide support for many more learners in a high-tech yet welcoming setting. It’s wonderful to see the expansion of services and assistance that we are now capable of at TASC.”

The plan for the new and improved layout for the center has been in development for several years. On February 1, 2017, the Connecticut State Bond Commission, along with Governor Daniel P. Malloy, appropriated state funding to Three Rivers Community College for the reconstruction and renovation efforts.  The work was completed in several phases and opened to students at the beginning of the fall 2017 semester.

The ribbon cutting will take place on Monday, October 30 at 10 a.m. in room C113. All are welcome to attend, and the ceremony will be followed by tours and refreshments.
