Time for a new career. Then one of these Professional Development courses could be for you.

Students will receive instruction in nine (9) subject areas via pre-recorded lectures and power point presentations which discuss the environmental benefits of organic lawn care and provide technical horticultural instruction from Accredited Organic Land Care Professionals. This course is being administered by Three Rivers Community College and is offered on the Blackboard Learn platform which allows students to take the online course at their own pace.

This course prepares you to sit for the Connecticut Real Estate License Exam. Students must pass this course with a grade of 70 or better, and attend a minimum of sixty (60) classroom hours of instructions. This course is designed for anyone who is interested in a career in the world of Professional Real Estate, and for those who desire an in-depth knowledge of the industry. Course material is covered through a lecture style classroom experience supplemented with textbook assignments and exercises.

Are you interested in a career or part-time work in which you impact hundreds or thousands of people every day? Being a Security Officer might be for you. In order to be employed as a security officer, students are required to complete this 8-hour course. Students will also be advised on how to apply for the Security Officer Identification Card.

This course runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays and begins March 6 and runs through March 15, 2018.

Soft Skills Training

Looking to advance in your current position, improve your communication skills, learn a new skill?  There’s something for everyone.

So, you wish you had a “do-over” because you just said the wrong thing at the wrong time. This workshop will help you to find solutions to some of your toughest workplace communication problems. So, bring your specific issues with you —maybe it’s dealing with difficult people, an angry client, a backstabbing co-worker, a sexual harasser, or asking for a raise. You will learn tools and techniques and will practice having that conversation. You will learn the right questions to ask yourself before that conversation takes place; you will learn the principles to guide you to know how to handle the situation if that conversation starts to take a downward spiral, and you will learn statements to avoid.

Are the stressors of your daily life wearing you down? Does your mind chatter incessantly and usually with messages you really don’t want to hear? Then this training is for you. Learn mindfulness practices that can be transformative. We will practice self-hypnosis, proper breathing, and  meditation, as well as how to change the way you respond to stressful events by simply changing the way you think. Yes. You can do it! We will utilize effective cognitive behavioral therapy strategies to control overwhelming feelings and replace them with more realistic, positive, and peaceful thoughts, which will result in far more emotional regulation. Dress comfortably and bring your favorite blanket.
