Connecticut Safe Boating Certificate and the Personal Watercraft Operator’s Certificate

This program is taught by volunteers or employees of the Connecticut DEEP Boating Division and is designed to fulfill the requirements for the Connecticut Safe Boating Certificate and the Personal Watercraft Operator’s Certificate.

Upon successful completion of the course and final examination, the student can carry the diploma, application for certification, and the appropriate fee to any State DEP office to obtain the Safe Boating Certificate and/or the Personal Watercraft Operator’s Certificate.

Piloting and Seamanship: An Addendum to the CT Safe Boaters Course

This course is designed to take the basic principles covered during the “CT Safe Boaters Course”, and expound on them with the ultimate objective to manifest a smarter, safer and more well-rounded boater. The course will include an introduction to basic navigation and course plotting, electronic navigation, and introduction to marine weather observation, marine safety & survival, and basic seamanship.

This course is designed to take certain aspects of the CT Safe Boaters course and cover it in greater details to make it more understandable and easier for boaters to utilize afloat. Book is included.  There is a $40 materials fee to be paid to the instructor the first day of class.
